Title

MENTORING PRACTICES OF THE COOPERATING TEACHERS AT THE RIZAL TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY LABORATORY HIGH SCHOOL

Abstract

This study was conducted as preliminary venture of continuously improving the quality of education received by the students of the college of education specifically on their mentoring practice of their cooperating teachers during their on-the-job-training in the RTU-Laboratory High School. This study made use of the descriptive research methodology and employed a validated survey-questionnaire adopted from the Rizal Technological University Teaching Standards. Data gathering was held during the school year 2015-2016, 1st semester. The RTU Teaching Standards model is composed of four dimensions such as subject content, classroom management, pedagogy and feedback mechanism in teaching, which the respondents have to indicate the frequency of practice and extent of practice of their cooperating teachers’ effective mentoring practices using a five point scale.

One-hundred ninety-two pre-service teachers and thirty cooperating teachers participated in this study. Findings revealed that based on the perceptions of the pre-service teachers, their cooperating teachers frequently give them a small extent of effective mentoring practices contrary to what the cooperating teachers themselves perceived wherein they frequently give their best, in a large extent. This difference in their perception was statistically confirmed to be significant. Problems encountered and suggestions among the respondents were also taken to determine the specific innovations that can be best recommend to improve the quality of the mentoring program for the education students of the RTU-Laboratory High School.

Abstract

The phenomenon that made the object of research is the quality of human resources in Badan Kesatuan Bangsa dan Politik of DKI Jakarta Province. The purpose of this research is to discuss the influence of strategic planning policy implementation and democratic leadership style toward the quality of human resources. The study uses a quantitative research approach. 200 survey respondents drawn from a population of 200 personnel with census method. Data collection techniques: literature study, questionnaires and observation. Analysis of the data using the Output Path Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis. The results of the study are the following: first, There is the influence Strategic Planning Policy Implementation toward the Quality of Human Resources. The existence of a significant effect, indicating that in the Strategic Planning Policy Implementation of the Quality Human Resources established a causal relationship; second, there is the influence of the Democratic Leadership Style toward the Quality of Human Resources. The existence of a significant effect, indicating that in the Democratic Leadership Style with the Quality Human Resources established a causal relationship; third, there is the influence of Strategic Planning Policy Implementation through Democratic Leadership Style on the Quality of Human Resources. The existence of a significant effect, indicating that through the Democratic Leadership Style the Strategic Planning Policy Implementation variables still affect to the quality of human resources; fourth, there is the influence of the Democratic Leadership Style through the Strategic Planning Policy Implementation toward the Quality of Human Resources. The existence of a significant effect, indicating that through the Strategic Planning Policy Implementation the Democratic Leadership Style variable remains affect the quality of human resources.

Abstract

This study examined the influence of organizational bureaucratic reformation working culture through employees’ performancetowards organizational performance in South Lampung Regency of Lampung Province.
This study was a quantitative research using explanatory survey research design. This design is intended to test hypotheses of the study and interpret the influence of independent variable ( X ) on dependent variable ( Y ) . This study used survey method of explanatory type. This study was intended to describe and study the influence of organizational bureaucratic reform and working culture through employees’ performance toward organizational performance in the delivery of public services.

Based on results of discussion, it was known that  the organizational performance is influenced by changes in variable of bureaucratic reform, working culture, and the employees’ performance by 68.1%. The remaining portion of 31.9 percent is described (influenced)by other by variables or factors beyond this research model. It means that any changes in bureaucratic reform, working culture and employees’ performance have positive contribution to organizational performance.
The Author’sssuggestions can suggest in this study that it is necessary to have support from officials/employees with high competency and professionalism, to improve the character and moral quality of the officials or employees, and it is also necessary to have character building both individually and organizationally within the framework of working culture that is free of Corruption, Collusion and Nepotism to have better delivery of services. South Lampung regency government needs to re-establish the policy of bureaucratic reform inthe  form of regulations that emphasize the empowerment of apparatus, encourage innovation and spaces of discretion, clear and non-discriminatory distribution of authority. For further research, it should be noted to add other factors affecting the organizational performance with restriction on problem as conducted by the researcher.

THE INFLUENCE OF STRUCTURAL TRANSFORMATION OF THE STATUS OF THE VILLAGE ADMINISTRATION TO KELURAHAN AND COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT  INTO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT IN WEST JAVA PROVINCE

Abstract

The transformation of the status of the village administration into kelurahan remains a strategic issue and attractive to continue to be studied academically in line with the development of decentralized governance. Similarly, the change of the organizational structure of government should certainly still carry the public welfare purposes. Therefore, organizational transformation should be in line with the appropriate process of community empowerment in improving the capacity of communities to develop more dynamically to meet the needs of a prosperous life. This research was conducted to determine the effect from the transformation of the status of the village administration into kelurahan empowerment toward community development in west java province. The formulation of the problem are: (1) how much the influence the transformation of the status of the village administration into kelurahan empowerment towards development; (2) how much the influence on the development of community empowerment; (3) how much the influence the transformation of the status of the village administration into kelurahan and community empowerment simultaneously towards community development; and (4) how the theoretical explanation or new concepts influence the transformation of the status of the village administration into kelurahan and empowerment of communities simultaneously towards community development. The concept developed in peeling organizational transformation based on the organizational transformation theory that rests on the 4R interrelated dimensions, namely: (1) Reframing; (2) Restructuring; (3) Revitalization; and (4) Renewing. While the concept of empowerment is focused on five dimensions: (1) enabling; (2) empowering; (3) protecting; (4) supporting; and (5) fostering. The concept of community development is set at six major dimensions of human life, namely development: (1) social; (2) economy; (3) politic; (4) culture; (5) environment; and (6) personnel as well as spiritual. The design of the research used explanatory survey method with quantitative analysis approach through path analysis techniques. The research proves that the findings of the transformation of the status of the village administration into kelurahan and empowerment have a significant effect with the amount of positive influence on the development of communities in the province of West Java. This implies that the transformation model village status into kelurahan followed by the appropriate community empowerment in West Java can be a positive influence on the variation change in community development.
